Fiat CR.1

Single engine, single seat fighter aircraft
As of December 1925, the Aviation Militaire Belge tested out two examples of the Fiat CR.1 Italian biplane fighter aircraft. (K-1 delivered on 23 December 1925 and K-2 delivered on 18 January 1926). Celestino Rosatelli, from whom it gained the ‘CR’ designation, designed the CR.1. Built out of wood covered with fabric, the CR.1's most distinctive feature was its "inverted sesquiplane" wing configuration meaning that the lower wings were longer than the upper ones. Tested by the "Chardon" and "Comet" Squadrons, it presented no major improvement over the Nieuport NiD.29 operated by these squadrons at that time so no orders followed. (D. Brackx)
