De Havilland DH.60G Gipsy Moth

Single engine two seat observation and liaison aircraft
At the height of the "Phoney War" the Aéronautique Militaire Belge requisitioned several civil aircraft that were used as "Estafette" or liaison aircraft mostly attached to different squadrons. The Belgian authorities also impressed two De Havilland DH.60G Gipsy Moth's. De Havilland DH.60G-III OO-GUY entered service on 26 August 1939 with Squadron 6/III/2Aé, while OO-AMN (DH.60G) was used by the Openbare Weermacht/Force Publique for short liaison flights between Léopoldville (Ndolo) and Banana/Moanda and later on as target aircraft for the Matadi air-air defence guns (Daniel Brackx)
